Abstract:
Nowadays there are countless tools that act as repositories of educational resources. We commonly call these repositories virtual learning environments or LMS (Learning Management System). These environments have become strategic allies of many educational institutions that have them, especially in this time of pandemic.

The knowledge society demands to be prepared in the use of technology; therefore, educational institutions cannot remain on the sidelines of this trend and are adapting their curricula to meet these demands.

This article aims to show how LMS are generating a high level of participation in learning, specifically in computer engineering careers, in order to generate shared contributions for the social construction of knowledge. Supporting communication, coordination and the development of collaborative skills of students through coordinated and shared activities, through social interactions among group members. Finally, results of the use of the LMS Canvas in a subject of the Computer Engineering course are shown.
