Abstract:
In the era of globalisation, the Fourth Industrial Revolution has already brought information and communication technology advancements and this impacts on all aspects of human lives including education. Unexpectedly, the Covid-19 pandemic brought drastic changes to human daily lives and has forced all types of education institutions to ensure that effective learning continues virtually especially during the movement control order. The mindsets of educators and student learning styles have now changed. However, the unseen effect of this global pandemic on human development in all aspects could not be ignored. This crucial matter must be investigated and alternative solutions should be sought. All individuals especially students or young generation should be equipped with the necessary skills to keep up with any coming changes and challenges in the future. As a consequence, Holistic Student Development (HSD) should be enhanced and promoted by all educational upholders and stakeholders. HSD is one of Critical Agenda Projects of National Higher Education Strategic Plan and the change to the 10 big shifts in the Malaysian Education Blueprint: Higher Education 2015-2025. The model human capital as well as an ideal leader is expected to be well rounded individuals with an appreciation for humanistic pursuits such as arts, culture, sports and volunteerism. In the effort of supporting the agenda of HSD, therefore, this paper will contribute a new educational outcome that is a renewed framework of Humanistic Integrative Learning Approach (HILA) to be recommended for enhancing holistic student development as a preparation for Post-Pandemic World. New critical skills for 21st century education have been identified to be incorporated for Higher Education Institutions students in Malaysia. HILA is recommended as an alternative framework to be adapted with the Western humanistic educational thoughts and practices for global education in the Post-Pandemic World.
