Abstract:
Nowadays, new technologies and the fast development of the Internet have made access to information easier for all kind of people, making new challenges for education when utilizing the Internet as a tool. One of the best examples is how to recommend a suitable learning path according to the learner’s requirements and activities in a learning process. That is, having a personalized learning system that can adapt itself while providing learning support to different learners to overcome the weakness of `one size fits all' approaches in technology-enabled learning systems. A recommended learning path comprises appropriate learning examples and learning resources for a student to go through to achieve desired learning outcomes. In this paper, we propose an approach for recommending suitable learning paths for students with learning disabilities based on their learning activities. The Selection of the learning path is considered as recommendations for choosing and combining the sequences of learning objects (LOs) according to learners' characteristics and needs. This approach is based on two main parts. The first part is searching for the learning paths using ant colony optimization algorithm and then clustering the learners into groups based on their prior activities using Fuzzy C-Mean algorithm.
