Abstract:
OpenCourseWare (OCW) is a large-scale electronic publishing initiative, based on the Internet and its basic objective is to offer open access to course material used by university staff in their teaching, together with a study guide. In coordination with OCW-MIT, Universia has been committed to this project from day one, promoting the OCW Universia Consortium and establishing a partnership agreement with the Polytechnic University of Madrid for joint development of the initiative (http://ocw.universia.net/en/). Among the Material published on http://ocw.universia.net/en/ site in the Area of expertise of Applied Physics, Acoustics (OCW University of the Basque Country) (http://ocw.universia.net/en/asignatura/978/acoustics-(ocw-university-of-the-basque-country)/ ) is a course that offers a wide perspective on aspects of production, reception and effects of sound and noise, which can be understood without specialist training in Engineering, Physics or Mathematics, as it is designed for students with elementary notions of Physics and for general public interest. The course may be validated as 4.5 free-choice credits by the University of the Basque Country and by the G9 Group of Universities under the terms and conditions set out by these institutions. Keywords:
