Abstract:
Women all over Pakistan are facing issues relating to gender discrimination on a daily basis in their workplace. This issue is affecting the performance of female employees. This is yet to be addressed by the management even though it is affecting the over all out put of organizations where females are employed. This paper will highlight the areas where women are feeling the crunch the most. It aims to report the findings of a study on the impacts gender discrimination can cause on the motivation level of the female staff. With this paper we hope to increase awareness that this issue can have on the productivity of female workers. This paper opts for an approach which involves an analysis of data acquired from female employees from 10 to 15 different organizations. Realizing the immensely broad scope of the research, this study has been restricted to female workers between the ages of 20 to 40. Detailed data was collected using questionnaires and one to one interviews. Various aspects of the gender discrimination such as promotions, pays, assigning duties and issues relating to harassment are covered. This paper will help organizations better understand problems faced by their female workers. The study will help them to take necessary measures to counteract the discrimination issues and thus enhance their overall performance.
