Abstract:
The university, due to its work in the generation and dissemination of knowledge, is a very important part of the development of the Sustainable Developmental Goals (SDGs). Most of the built environment is made up of infrastructures and buildings, which are those that generate the greatest impact due to materials and resources, energy demand, waste generated, and so on. Therefore, the degrees in Civil Engineering and Fundamentals of Architecture play an essential role in contributing to sustainability by environmental and natural resources management according to them. This paper shows an approach done with students of these two degrees in the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). The aim of this approach has been to increase the domain of sustainability-related competences at different subjects of their curriculum. Teaching activities were designed using different methodologies and students were involved in their learning process, bringing them closer to the real world from an environmental and sustainable perspective.
