Abstract:
The introduction of information and communication technologies in education and the intensive creation of educational resources over the past 20 years has led to an oversaturation of the educational segment of the Runet (Russian-language Internet space). However, despite the abundance of educational resources, it is not always possible to find educational content of the necessary matter and decent quality. The problem of finding suitable educational content is most often faced by students, but sometimes teachers also analyze educational resources in order to apply them in their teaching practice. Rather often teachers create their own educational resources and place them in the LMS of the university. Currently, there is a problem of classifying educational resources, creating quality replenishable catalogs and search engines in the educational segment of Runet. The problem of choosing suitable educational content is quite acute in higher technical education. The students of the 1st and 2nd courses when studying exact sciences (physics, mathematics) are interested in finding high-quality educational content to master a complex topic. These searches are not always successful, and the teachers of the discipline do not always provide the necessary assistance in the selection of the resource. There are two reasons for this. The first reason is that students, having the skills to search the Internet and expecting that "you can find everything on the Web", nevertheless, due to poor theoretical training in the subject they are studying, cannot assess the quality of educational content, and do not know the educational resources to find appropriate material. The second reason is that teachers are not always motivated and do not have the necessary information and pedagogical competencies to search for high-quality educational content and its effective use in the educational process. In order to study students' preferences in the choice of sources and forms of presentation of educational content, to analyze the difficulties faced by students, a survey was conducted with the usage of the Internet application Google Forms. Processing the results of the survey allowed us to identify a correlation between students’ performance and preferred forms of presentation of educational content. Weaker students give preference to multimedia resources. Among them there is a little demand for the traditional form (in the form of a textbook) of presentation of educational material. Students noted the poor informational provision of the educational space of the university, not all teaching aids are presented in electronic format. It was found that there is an expansion of the functions of the teacher in the current conditions of abundance of educational resources and the need to choose high-quality educational content. The function of helping students to select high-quality educational resources and the optimal use of these resources is now added to the functions of organizing the educational process in the discipline, presentation of educational material and evaluation of competencies acquired by students.
