The EU charter of fundamental rights prohibits discrimination on the ground of disability and recognizes the right of people with disabilities to benefit from measures to ensure their independence, social and occupational integration and participation in the life of the community. The rights of persons with disabilities in the EU are also protected by the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD)
On 15.11.2010, the European Commission published its Communication "A European Disability Strategy for People with Disabilities 2010-2020: A renewed commitment to a barrier - free Europe". The strategy aims to ensure that people with disabilities exercise their full rights and participate fully in society and society of the European economy, with an important focus being on the elimination of barriers.
In order to drive the implementation of the strategy with its complexity, it requires qualified advice. The consulting services currently available on the market are usually very specific and do not cover the holistic approach of all types of disability.

Innovative approach of the project:
Because of that issues, the FHJ developed an innovative training course for improvement the workplace conditions of disabled people. The participants of this course are able to give consultancy in order to improve the working conditions for disabled people.

The innovative aspects of the course are laying in the following aspects:
1) Holistic approach of the training
The holistic approach of this training is compared to existing trainings, which train experts in specific areas. The approach is quite innovative, because it communicates the whole problem and not only one part of it. Hence, it is important to be able to understand, to analyze the entire workplace situation of people with disabilities and to suggest measurements to solve it.
2) Social innovation
The social innovation is the improvement of the workplace for people with disabilities. The innovation will be distributed through the course participants (i.e. consultants) to the organizations especially SMEs. The awareness and the responsibility of all people involved will raise.
