Abstract:
In the process of training in the specialty of Archival and Documentary Studies, ULSIT, we are working on the creation of broad-based specialists prepared to work in the public and private sector in different types of archives. This gives freedom in the choice of professional realization and is a prerequisite for high interest in the specialty.

At the end of their studies, students with high grades get the opportunity to graduate by defending a thesis, and students with lower grades must take the State Exam. The diploma thesis is the final stage of the training having a specific teaching and research nature and is an independent creative research activity of the graduate under the methodological guidance of a lecturer working in the field of the chosen topic.

The thesis presents the theoretical knowledge and skills acquired by students, and their ability to relate this knowledge to practice. That is why the choice of a topic is extremely important and is a prerequisite for a deeper insight into a specific topic. This is also an opportunity for the student to further develop their competencies in the specific field.

The report aims to trace the trends in the selection of topics for thesis among students of the specialty of Archival and Documentary Studies at the Department of Library Management and Archival Studies. According to the results of the analysis of the data from the academic documentation, there is a tendency to choose two main groups of topics, the first is related to the history and development of archives, and the second is related to the use of new technologies in archival institutions. The results of the survey can help to create new concepts in the enrichment of curricula and programs in the specialty. The report and the research presented in it are a good starting point for the implementation of new policies by the university.
