Abstract:
The development of science in Bulgaria both in the short and long term is related to the European Union and its main policies and trends. The focus, relevance and significance of the research and the approaches and tools used for its implementation are in line with the stated intentions to achieve the set indicators for research development, according to the National Strategy for Research Development in the Republic of Bulgaria (2017-2030). The strategy aims through rapid, large-scale and long-term development of the research system Bulgaria to become an attractive center for advanced research and development of new technologies, to attract and retain young talents in Bulgaria, to strengthen the responsibility of Bulgarian science to society and vice versa, to raise the international authority of the country in the field of science and as a final result to achieve economic growth and a significant increase in the quality of life in the country.
In 2020, the project entitled "Study of attitudes to the therapeutic potential of reading in atypical situations for the individual" was launched, which will help enrich the theoretical developments and reveal the possibilities for practical application. The objectives of the project will contribute to the development of science and education and to the application of scientific results in the service of highlighted public needs.
The research envisaged in the project will create a real picture of society's attitudes towards reading as a therapeutic tool for dealing with atypical situations for the individual, as well as the degree of knowledge and use by librarians of the possibilities of bibliotherapy in the library environment.
The results of the research will establish real preconditions for the creation of materials supporting the popularization of bibliotherapy and the increase of the knowledge of the library specialists.
The activities and results related to the implementation of the project are aimed at various target groups such as: library and information specialists, representatives of educational and cultural institutions, research centers, disadvantaged people, therapists, and all stakeholders.
The significance of the project for the scientific community, citizens and all institutions involved is indisputable, as new knowledge in the fields of the theory and application of bibliotherapy will be accumulated as a result of the research activity.
The purpose of the report is to present an element of the project activities related to the study of translated publications in bibliotherapy in Bulgaria and their reflection on the training of students majoring in the specialty of Library and Information Management at ULSIT. The translated publications on bibliotherapy in Bulgaria are the basis for creating interest in this topic and for a long time are the only ones in the country. Therefore, they serve as good examples of librarians' attempts to generate interest in bibliotherapy. When teaching some of the optional and elective disciplines in the specialty, we work with examples from these publications and study the level of their impact on the professional library community. Examples from the academic work in the disciplines of Library Pedagogy and Library Psychology are given. The topic of the therapeutic function of reading in the period of global crisis is extremely relevant and creates preconditions for new in-depth studies. Keywords:
