Abstract:
The proposed study presents a project under implementation, which is a response to the current situation in the field of parenthood and child upbringing in Slovakia with an accent placed on the issues of family and parent education. The project is based on one of the European Union’s key strategies for smart and sustainable growth - "to give all children a solid start to life by providing quality early childhood care and development". The aim of the project is to gain a systematic overview of the transformation of activities applied within family education in Slovakia from the historical point of view and to specify the development of its content after 1989 based on content analysis of selected texts. The authors of the study provide an overview of the development in the field of family and parent education, a theoretical analysis of available theories and existing practical methods, a detailed description of the research project under realization, as well as its expected contribution to the pedagogical practice.
