Abstract:
Teaching and learning quality is the most important aspect of quality management at higher education insitutions. Therefore, institutional strategies should emphasise the processes aimed at enhancing teaching and learning practies. The purpose of this paper is to examine the strategies for teaching and learning enhancement implemented at Croatian higher education institutions. More specificaly, this paper aims to examine the institutional frameworks for teaching and learning enhancement and to identify practices that are implemented at Croatian higher education institutions. Data have been collected using on-line survey sent to two management representatives of 171 higher education institutions. In total, 135 replies were collected. The findings indicate that majority of Croatian higher education institutions implemented strategy for teaching and learning enhancement. However, the strategies have not fulfiled their goal to engage students and to increase the level of teaching and learning quality. This paper emphasises the importance of teaching and learning stretegies as a part of overall quality management at higher education institution and proposes a set of guidelines for management to improve teaching and learning quality.
