Abstract:
Algorithms have become a tool in solving not only mathematical problems and algorithmization is nowadays a suitable teaching tools at different cognitive levels. For example, the generality, elementality and resultativeness of algorithms are common reasons why teachers focus on algorithms in mathematics teaching. We think that mathematics needs to be taught, especially at the university level, so that students are able to use their mathematical knowledge and skills in solving problems related to their study focus. In our paper, we illustrate this idea with an example of a design for teaching numerical integration as a means of understanding the principles of basic integration methods. The main contribution is the section where we show several examples from our practice related to numerical integration using Matlab computing environment which are applicable in the real pedagogical process. We recommend using the numerical part to acquaint students with the basic integration algorithm with a focus on understanding the individual steps of the calculation.
