SYSTEMIC ASPECTS OF COMPETENCY-BASED UNIVERSITY EDUCATION

Universidad Simón Bolívar (VENEZUELA)
The current training demands of university professionals are increasingly oriented towards a comprehensive professional who can bring innovative solutions in their specific area of knowledge while contributing to the development of society therefore requires that universities establish real interaction with the productive sector and society in general, so that transcend the classroom and learning professionals are actually trained to respond to environmental demands. Against this background the competency-based training has become a chance to achieve a professional with the above features, making it the axis or change the basis of numerous curriculum projects at Latin American institutions. Depending on the integration and interrelation of the elements that make up the process of transferring powers, it is necessary to address some of the principles of the General Systems Theory which give the systemic nature of this process. It is then appropriate to consider what are the systemic principles that underlie the competency-based training? How can systemic elements defined in university education and skills to ensure the transfer between the productive sector, universities and society? This article presents a proposal that includes a detailed description of the systemic elements of the competencies approach based on the proposed system Filho (2009), which include; the whole over the parts, relations on objects, the quality of the quantity, the dynamic balance of stability, exclusive and inclusive about the nonlinear dynamics. We conclude that these elements are designed to reduce as far as possible the gap or unmet need between the education sector, the productive sector and society, where the linking universities, businesses and skills makes it possible to think of a dynamic training model and changing, with the potential to adapt to their educational, social and business in which it occurs, it is not a magic formula for success in the economic and social development of nations, but an integral and systemic way to educate and train talent human and our universities.
