PROPOSAL FOR THE TRAINING MODEL OF THE UNIVERSITY TEACHER FOR THE FACULTY OF ECONOMIC SCIENCES OF THE CENTRAL UNIVERSITY OF ECUADOR

Abstract:
To improve the teaching-learning process and the academic performance of university students, it is necessary for teachers to improve their skills and competence. In addition, their knowledge is updated and aligned with the profile of future professionals.
This study aims to visualize a training model that contains the components that are considered most important for the updating of knowledge according to the teacher's perspective. The components considered for this study are: Teaching and Teaching Methods - Learning; Information and communication technologies; Scientific investigation; Specialization (Update in the area of knowledge); Complementary training (Areas other than those of their specialization). Additionally, the topics of interest necessary in teacher training are established within each component. Through the collection of data obtained through the application of a survey of 70 teachers of the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the Central University of Ecuador in the period 2019-2020.
It is concluded that the component considered most important in teacher training is that corresponding to “Specialization (Update in the area of knowledge)”, closely followed by “Scientific Research” and “Teaching and Teaching Methods - Learning”. Regarding the topics of interest that require more attention in training topics are: Didactics, Quality in Education, Management of Statistical Packages R and SPSS, Academic writing and production of scientific articles, Qualitative research techniques, Economics, Direction of Projects, Construction and Analysis of Indicators, Financial Simulation, Big Data, Machine Learning, Data Mining and Data Analysis Techniques, among others. It is further determined that in order to strengthen academic coexistence, motivation, professional ethics and interpersonal relations courses are required.
To improve the academic quality of university teachers within the teaching-learning process, a model is proposed that contains the different components that make it possible to transmit knowledge in an updated way to students in order to improve their skills and incorporate more competitive professionals into society. .Keywords:
