Abstract:
The goal of this research is to explore the specific role of media on the methodical process and the outcomes of learning in Croatian language classes. The sample consists of 200 primary school teachers from Zagreb county. Research questions which are raised have the goal to find out the teachers’ opinion about the role of media technology, especially mobile phones and tablets, on the methodological process of learning in Croatian language classes. With them we want to explore the teachers’ attitude towards integration of mobile technology in the classroom, what their expectations about the outcomes of learning by using them are and are there any differences in the teachers’ evaluation depending on their age and length of service. Because of great variety of media technology resources and digital tools the possibilities of their usage in the classroom and the easy access to a great amount of exceptionally diverse information it is researched which advantages of the newest resources of media technology there are.
The results of One sample t test (bootstrapped model) show that using media technology has a significant role on methodological process in Croatian language classes. Also, it is verified the positive teacher’s attitude towards integration of mobile technology, mobile phones and tablets in the classroom and positive expectations about the outcomes of learning by using media technology in Croatian language classes. In the field of dual variant correlation (Spearman) the relationship between the length of service and teachers’ expectations about the role of media technology on the outcomes of learning and the methodological process in Croatian language classes is not confirmed.
