Global computerization, peculiar for the modern educational environment, has become the primary reason for the fact that information and communication technologies have become an indispensable assistant to the teacher of higher education. Obviously, in the process of vocational training of future foreign language teachers, the application of information and communication technologies ensures its effectiveness in several aspects. Information and communication technologies are embodied in various components, among which one can single out the worldwide Internet. One of the regulated ways to work with the resources of the Internet is the WebQuest technology developed by B. Dodge and T. March. Currently, in the conditions of vocational training of future foreign language teachers, various types of educational WebQuests can be used, among which a linguodidactic WebQuest deserves a particular attention.

The purpose of this article is to analyze the possibilities and directions of linguodidactic WebQuest use in the professional training of future foreign language teachers. In the process of the research, the essential characteristics of the linguodidactic WebQuest are revealed, the possible variants of its structure are clarified, the directions of use, the influence on the formation of methodological competence of future foreign language teachers are detailed, the most accessible algorithms of technical creation are proposed.

The authors believe that the linguodidactic WebQuest is an innovative task of search character and has complex possibilities in forming the methodical competence of future foreign language teachers. Linguodidactic WebQuest, first of all, is one of the means of implementing the project method in the classroom on the theory and methodology of teaching a foreign language. The result of work on linguodidactic WebQuests can be a problem research project on one of the current topics on the theory and methodology of teaching a foreign language, solving methodical situational problems, practice-oriented methodical project / case. The types of WebQuests are highlighted based on these results.

The conducted research made it possible to draw a conclusion about the effectiveness of the use of linguodidactic WebQuests in the conditions of the vocational training of future foreign language teachers, namely the influence on their methodological competence, the expansion of the general professional horizon, the formation of the information culture.
