Abstract:
FORMAR project - Vocational Training on Sustainable Buildings Maintenance and Refurbishment is supported by the Lifelong Learning Programme, Leonardo da Vinci, in the action of Multilateral Projects for Development of Innovation. The Project has duration of 36 months, from the 1st of October 2013 to the 30th September 2016. The partnership is composed of 9 partners from three EU countries (Portugal, Spain and France), being LNEG (Portugal) the Coordinator.

The main goal of the project is to develop Units of Short-term Training (UST), composed by training resources and modules to improve the skills on sustainability issues of workers of buildings’ maintenance and refurbishment. Five UST have been designed to be integrated in the vocational training of carpenters, painters, bricklayers, building technicians, and installers of solar panels. Also, a transversal unit has been developed, concerning basic concepts on sustainable construction and nearly-Zero Energy Buildings. The second goal is to improve the information provided to qualified professionals and end users, for which several guides have been developed to support their purchase decisions related to sustainable buildings’ products and materials.

The use of the methodological principles of the European Credit System for Vocational Education and Training (ECVET) in the development of the USTs will allow their subsequent integration in this system while facilitating the transparency of qualifications and their recognition in all European countries.

In this paper the preliminary results of FORMAR project are presented and discussed.
