Abstract:

In this turbulent time of internet and social media is very important to think about security and safety of using of these new forms of communication. As today most people are using social media on daily basis they should have in their mind that their using is not for free as we all think. These social media accounts are free of charge but as we are using them and sharing our data on these platforms we are paying to social media companies by our data. So, these companies are gathering our personal data, then storying, processing and using them for many purposes, for example for marketing and remarketing of products and services.

We have many experiences with educating of students and we know that they do not very much focus on security when using social media accounts. As a result of these experiences with students we decided to realize research among the students on masters’ degree to gather the information about how they use social media and how they perceive the security on social media they use. So, to know what security settings they use and are important for them. On basis of this research we created guide for our students with most important security settings for the most used social media sites.
