Abstract:
Introduction:
The role of students’ engagement in the university learning environment during remote learning is an issue of growing importance in the world education system at all levels. This was affirmed also for the students’ education during the uncertain times during the national lockdown 2020 in Bulgaria.

This extremely unusual situation was challenging for the education of the students at all levels. The future of the post-Covid-19 society implies the development of new forms of living and new forms of interaction, including teaching and learning. The present research is aimed at finding out what types of collaborations are expected so that an unavoidable force major situation in the context of Covid-19 can be easily overcome. In order to gain a detailed view of the situation, the present research studies the attitude of bachelor students from one Bulgarian university, which is in scope of their foreign language education at the South-West University Neofit Rilski, Blagoevgrad.

Beside of the implication of a differentiated approach to both teaching and studying in times of a pandemic crisis the paper’s goal is to examine the student’s needs in such uncertain times.

The paper aims to present the results of a two-step survey about the remote learning and teaching. The first part of the analysis is based on a survey during the lockdown, and the second part concerns the assessment and the expectations of the students in regards of language training at the beginning of the next semester after the lockdown.

Presentation:
The research’s aim is to study the state problems in the new educational environment, with a special focus of the specific needs for the foreign language education and literacy in a university environment among learners and trainers by challenging a debate on extra educational situations on purely educational one. The study uses a descriptive methodology and implies some theories of distant learning environments and educational crisis management.
