INCREASED RISK OF INJURIES IN CHILDREN WITH ADHD COMPARED TO CHILDREN WITHOUT ADHD AND THE ROLE OF OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST IN INJURY PREVENTION

Abstract:
Aim:
The aim of the research was to contribute to solving the problem of injuries of children with attention disorders in the school environment.
Methodology:
For the data collection, a non-standardized questionnaire of its own design, consisting of 12 items, was used. The questions were closed and monitored the nature of school injuries and the sex and age of the respondents. The survey included 100 pupils with ADHD and 100 pupils without ADHD. Accident data was collected in the time period from September 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017.
Results: Of the 100 questionnaires of children with ADHD, 49 injuries (49%) and 26 inaccurate (26%) children were incomplete, of which 26 , that approximately every second child with attention deficit disorder experienced some type of injury while intact children were about every fourth child.
Conclusions:
The analysis of the data revealed that all attendees in the care and education of children with ADHD should be aware of the risk of injuries in the school environment and to promote accident prevention and prevention programs targeting children with attention deficit disorder.Keywords:
