Abstract:
The results in teaching in the three oldest campuses (Azcapotzalco, Iztapalapa and Xochimilco) of the Mexican Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) are very different [1], despite that they have more or less the same budget, number of teachers and started functioning in the same year of 1974. In order to find out why the results are so different we analyze the number of students graduated, the number of trimesters for students to graduate, and other parameters of the same careers in the three oldest campuses of the UAM. We also analyze if the strategic plans of some of the campuses of the UAM attack the problems in teaching we have described [1] and if there are specific objectives, strategies, policies and resources defined to overcome them. With this analysis we investigate what has worked in the Campuses of Xochimilco and Iztapalapa in order to recommend strategies for improvement in the teaching in the Campus of Azcapotzalco.
