Abstract:
Every child has unique abilities and talents. However, some children possess exceptional abilities and potential that go beyond what is typically expected for their age or grade level. These children are often referred to as "talented and gifted" (TAG) and require specialized support and education to reach their full potential. In spite of their obvious strengths as learners, such students often become bored, disengaged, or underperform. This can lead to a loss of potential and may impact the future of these pupils and the society as a whole. Therefore, it is crucial for educators and schools to implement strategies for educating TAG pupils. Providing support for TAG pupils not only benefits the individual, but it also contributes to the overall success of the educational system. By offering appropriate opportunities, and support, schools can develop the full potential of their TAG pupils and ensure that they are prepared for the challenges of the future. The main aim of this article is to provide the systemized and in-depth analysis of the methods and approaches to work with TAG children expanding to throughout classification of the trends and tendencies in EU secondary and vocational education. Research was conducted based on bibliographical review and experience of seven partner countries within the project Edutalents in 2022 - 2023. This study reveals the whole range and scope of the developments in the education good practices working with pupils with exceptional abilities, setting the up-to-date framework and identifying dominating constituents of the whole meta system of approaches to distinguish, develop and support TAG children. As a result of this study, a model of TAG pupils development strategies has been developed, which takes into account such criteria as different resources available, forms of organization of development processes (large group, small group or individual) and form of work (offline or online). Results of the research can be extrapolated to all levels of the education system.
