Abstract:
The use of this kind of interactive devices in science classes can have a positive effect on the science performance of students. These assertions stem from a study of the ideas of secondary school students who were asked, through a questionnaire, to give their views immediately after they have been exposed to interactive science devices. All students, whether they planned to take science-related courses not, were ‘greatly curious’ about the manipulatives and perceived that the use of Interactive science devices in their science classes ‘greatly influenced’ their science performance. Compared to the other group, those who planned to take science or science-related courses were significantly more interested with the interactive manipulatives, as expected. It is recommended that ways to introduce interactive science manipulatives to high school students, such as science fairs and exhibits, be done in order to attract students to pursue science or science-related course after high school. Also, high school teachers are encouraged to utilize interactive science devices in their science classes so that the academic performance of their students can be enhanced.
