Abstract:
Part of the academic literature considers that companies should concentrate exclusively on generating profits for the organization. Faced with this position, there is another diametrically opposed point of view, which establishes that the Social Responsibility developed by companies is essential to achieve growth over time, within a more egalitarian and equitable economic and social framework.

In this article, a brief analysis of the conceptual evolution that Corporate Social Responsibility has had in the last half century will be made, and it will be examined how its interpretation has varied and improved over time. Likewise, we will approach different initiatives and regulatory frameworks that arose at national, European and international levels, and the influence that they have for the implementation of actions and policies carried out voluntarily through good business practices by all sort of companies.

This analysis will take into account the relationship of social responsibility within the educational sector and the role of educational establishments in the interaction and impact with the entire community and society. As we will see, it is a pillar for the social and economic development of any country, so that true equality of opportunities coexists for all, fostering competitiveness and encouraging dynamism within all economic and social sectors.
