Abstract:
It has always been very important the cooperation between university, industry and government. The kind of interactions that exists between them can define the success that they are going to reach in the future. In this sense, it could be produced new knowledge, the technology could be transferred between universities and companies, and new incubators and spin-offs could arise as a consequence of all the established relationships.

The Triple Helix model at the center of this research proposes a new paradigm for the university at a crucial time for its future development. It also allows the university to play a strategic role and provides the basis for relationships with business. It is a useful model for promoting the spirit of enterprise as well as business growth, with its three helices of state, university and company. The functioning of the relationships within the Triple Helix is an essential element in innovation strategy both nationally and internationally. Hence, spin-off companies created from universities help to transfer knowledge and scientific research to the business sector, and they facilitate communication between universities, the market and the society.

In this research we are going to analyse how the Triple Helix model can be applied in Spain, and how it can be used as a valuable tool for examining the three-way relationship marked by social, historic and/or economic aspects. In other words, it can be an instrument for the successful analysis of the business, technical and educational context from various useful perspectives.
