Abstract:

The issue of the entrepreneurial university is a topic of interest for researchers and university management, due to national and international strategies that promote economic development by involving higher education institutions (Strategia Europa 2020, 2010: 14), but also to the changes determined by the „globalization process and internationalization” (Guerrero-Cano, Kirby, Urbano, 2006: 1). Also, universities adopting actions with entrepreneurial specificity, can develop internally by attracting additional financial resources. The development of this field of study is highlighted in several papers (eg. Rothaermel et al. 2007, Liñán and Fayolle, 2015), but little is known about studies conducted by authors from Southeast Europe. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to conduct a literature review to identify the concerns of the researchers on this topic. Therefore, we will analyze the scientific output associated with researchers from South-Eastern European countries, following the number of papers published between 2009-2018, the category and field of journals in which they appear, and the impact of papers in terms of position in the field. The analysed papers are collected from the Scopus and Web of Science databases. The contributions of the paper consist in highlighting the status of knowledge and possible research directions in the area of South-Eastern Europe.
