Abstract:
The necessary evolution in 21st-century education primarily involves a shift away from rote memorization towards the cultivation of problem-solving skills across various life contexts. A fundamental aspect of this evolution is the adoption of a competency-based approach to education. This approach prioritizes the development of learning tasks that stimulate critical thinking, teamwork, creativity, entrepreneurship, emotional intelligence, decision-making, and other skills crucial for personal success.

Implementing the competency-based approach in education is a multifaceted process that requires the creation and practical testing of various methodological solutions. The transition from knowledge-centric learning to competency-oriented education must occur at every level of the educational structure. Prospective teachers should be equipped with contemporary pedagogical insights during their training and be prepared to employ diverse organizational methods beyond conventional classroom lessons, while also being able to design a variety of educational tasks.

The mission of today's educational community is to equip the younger generation for effective integration into society. Modern pedagogy emphasizes not only knowledge acquisition but also the cultivation of key competencies. While certain competencies are developed through educational activities, they transcend traditional lesson structures. Introducing the competency-based approach in education is essential to creating an environment where teachers can effectively pursue modern educational objectives.

Educational institutions play a crucial role in nurturing individuals who are educated and possess the skills and competencies necessary for successful life outcomes. Given the changes across various societal domains, there's a need for a corresponding shift in the educational paradigm. In addition to academic knowledge, emphasis is placed on essential competencies that enable individuals to live fulfilling lives and achieve success, including full interaction with the environment, effective communication in diverse socio-cultural contexts, adaptive decision-making, critical thinking, social awareness, and empathy.

The education system grapples with several questions, the answers to which drive the development of pedagogical models for training and personal growth. Through practical testing, guidelines should be formulated for the pedagogical community, outlining factors for fostering key competencies, approaches to cognitive activities, and strategies for reconciling the expanding breadth of knowledge, skills, and competencies with adolescents' limited capacities.

The article offers a succinct overview of implementing the competency-based approach in primary education. It presents alternative pedagogical formats conducive to organizing diverse educational activities for knowledge and skill formation. These examples include educational resources leveraging various information technologies, accompanied by methodological guidelines for practical implementation.
