Abstract:
The main task of the modern school is to help students to develop new knowledge, skills and attitudes that will be of help for their personal realization and participation in the public life.

The article discusses the opportunities for developing key competencies through games, team tasks and project work in primary school. Examples of realization in the pedagogical practice are presented.

The key competencies ensure the connection between the personal, social and professional attitudes of the modern personality. The success of each person's life and career depends on the degree of their development and manifestations. Key competences include communication in native and foreign languages, mathematical competence and basic knowledge in the field of natural sciences and technologies, digital competence, learning skills, public and civic competences, initiative and entrepreneurship, cultural awareness and creative expression.

In the primary school age the transition between playing and learning takes place. The game is no longer a leading activity, but it is a favourable basis for the implementation of learning activities and tasks with a game element.

The implementation of team tasks in primary school marks the beginning of the formation of soft skills such as tolerance, mutual assistance, empathy, algorithmic and critical thinking. By creating specific products, young students have the opportunity to show the acquired knowledge, as well as to show creativity in their implementation.

Working on projects in primary school has its own specifics. The ideas of project-based learning are the basis, but each activity is in accordance with the age perceptual abilities of the young students. The article presents the main elements in the creation and implementation of an educational project.
