Abstract:
This paper introduces the "Digital Pirandello" research project, a pioneering initiative in the field of educational innovation aimed at leveraging the potential of virtual assistants to enrich the learning of Italian literature. At the heart of the project is the development of a digital avatar that emulates the appearance and knowledge domain of the famous Italian playwright and Nobel Prize for Literature laureate, Luigi Pirandello. This virtual assistant, based on advanced artificial intelligence and natural language processing technologies, is designed to interact with students, providing detailed explanations and insights into Pirandello's works, the historical-cultural context, and his personal life. The primary goal of the research is to assess the effectiveness of such a virtual educational tool in increasing students' interest and understanding of literature and Pirandello himself, as well as to explore the potential of such technologies to transform traditional teaching methods. Through a methodological approach that combines qualitative and quantitative analysis, the paper discusses preliminary results obtained from the implementation of "Digital Pirandello" in real educational settings, reflecting on the pedagogical impacts, challenges, and opportunities introduced by this innovation. The project stands at the forefront of integrating artificial intelligence and pedagogy, proposing a replicable and scalable model for introducing historical-literary figures through virtual assistants in diverse educational contexts.
