Abstract:
Today, at the times of industrial modernization, requirements to employees are increasing. As long as university graduates are a significant part of employees, it is important to study if they able to fulfill the requirements of modern industry, in other words: if youth are capable to perceive, implement and create innovation. In this paper we introduce the results of study on innovative capabilities of university graduates – young employees of the enterprises from two large industrial regions of Russia.
In this study we used the target quota sample (N=420). The study covered enterprises of high-tech sectors of the economy: engineering, transport, aircraft manufacturing, metal industry, rocket production, IT and communications.
The results of the study revealed a specific problem: for young people activities related to the development and implementation of ready-made innovations, improvement if their educational or professional qualification level are more common, than activities related to the development and presentation of their ideas and projects.
The study showed that a significant part of young people has creative ideas or projects that they would like to implement in the field of production and engineering. This indicates that young employees have creative and innovative potential.
In this study we recorded that young people assessed opportunities for the development and implementation of their innovative resources in the current environment as low.
As the main reasons that reduce the possibility of innovation activity young employees pointed out: the lack of interest of business and production in innovation, the lack or absence of government programs to support youth initiatives, the absence of incentive system in enterprises for the development of innovation, the low level of professional and managerial training of decision makers who are engaged in the implementation of innovation into production. Keywords:
