Abstract:
Engineering schools face considerable challenges in attracting students to scientific and engineering disciplines and motivating them to pursue undergraduate studies in these fields. This study introduces RACOBEU (Radio Astronomy Collaboration between European Universities: Developing Scientific and Technological Skills Through Astronomy), an Erasmus+ project designed to tackle this issue. The initiative has been implemented through an interactive framework at the Public University of Navarre (Spain), in collaboration with Ventspils University of Applied Sciences (Latvia), Adam Mickiewicz University (Poland), and one high school from each participating country. RACOBEU seeks to enhance student engagement in STEM fields while establishing a new educational model that strengthens institutional collaboration, with a particular emphasis on increasing female participation in astronomy and radio astronomy. To achieve this, the project has developed a series of specialized activities, including hands-on workshops and progressively challenging projects, led by university researchers and integrated into high school curricula.
