Abstract:
This study aims to describe the preferences of last year Physiotherapy students of the University of Valencia regarding postgraduate training. Twenty-eight last year physiotherapy students answered a survey in October 2018 where they were interrogated about their preferences about future training and/or work as graduates of the University of Valencia when they conclude their Physiotherapy studies. The survey reveals that 50% of the students want to continue their training with a master's degree in their discipline, preferably osteopathy (25%), and some other specialties as manual therapy, pelvic floor and neurology. Only 3.6% of them want to continue their training further and they plan to do a PhD. Most of them (89.3%) want to combine their postgraduate training with their first job. An important point to be taken into account is that all the students considered that they are not sufficiently informed about the postgraduate training offer at the University of Valencia. Regarding their future dedication, 21.4% are interested in dedicating themselves to the research task, 25% to the teaching task, and 82% to the assistance task. Finally, it is worth to mention that the majority (96%) prefer to work in their country, although a non-negligible percentage (18%) plan to go abroad to work in their immediate future.
