Abstract:
Teaching is like a game of chess, where all the pieces have to be manipulated with extreme skill by the school, to lead the student to a real, solid learning that allows the permutation of what has been learned. And what is learning? Learning implies a change in the individual's behaviour and can be seen as a result or as a process, involving different domains: cognitive, affective and psychomotor. There is a widespread conception that school is where formal learning takes place. The most common expectations about teachers and school brought up by students are that the school is a source of knowledge and wisdom and provides answers to students' wishes, which will allow the student to learn passively. However, what are the conceptions of society about school? What role does society assign to school? The aim of this study is to characterize the role of school in its teaching tasks such as values, ethics, financial issues, eating and sleep habits. 441 parents or guardians responsible for the children's education, 75 teachers and 10 primary school leaders participated in this research. Sociodemographic data was obtained by completing an individual identification form and the participants' perception of the role of the school was assessed by a questionnaire constructed within the scope of this research, in which participants had to identify the percentage they considered that the school should teach its students about: values, ethics, financial issues, eating and sleeping habits. The results seem to demonstrate that parents or guardians responsible for children's education, teachers and primary school leaders find it important for schools to teach students values, ethics, financial issues, eating and sleeping habits to its students. Although this is clearly important to all participants, teachers differ in the importance given to the school. On the contrary, school leaders feel that the school should teach these students less about these issues.

These results point to the need to sensitize the entire educational community and family contexts to the importance of learning about issues such as values, ethics, financial issues and eating and sleeping habits for an appropriate and harmonious development of the students that promotes their well-being.
