Abstract:
The digital transformation of a modern university in a new reality is set by global trends and tendencies, global digitalization, as well as responses to pandemic threats and challenges. Modern universities, responding to social and global challenges, are transforming, adjusting to the needs of the new digital reality. A modern university strives to positively and successfully implement digitalization, living in an ever-changing world. TOP universities are trying to develop, implement and improve digital products in educational, research and innovation processes.

The study of the digital transformation of a modern university in a new reality is aimed at the strategic development of the university along the "step by step" track along the main stages of digitalization of a modern university: from the use of external digital products to the formation of an open digital infrastructure. The article describes the five stages, and how they proceed on the example of the TOP universities in the world. At first, the university is “forced” to use digital technologies by contacting external counterparties who have implemented them. Over time, the university begins to independently introduce digital products into its activities. The development of experience in a modern university in the use of digital technologies and products leads to the gradual formation of an entire system, a digital infrastructure. At the third stage, it is possible to record digital traces of all participants in the educational process; at the fourth stage, it is possible to start forming a digital profile of a student or teacher. The fifth stage involves a complete open digital platform, an infrastructure that is integrated with other digital companies. Here, the digital infrastructure provides effective management of the digital profile of a student and a teacher.

The digital transformation of a modern university requires a change in the management paradigm. The aim of the article is to study the digital transformation of a modern university in a new reality through the prism of the experience of the world's top universities, identifying cases, technologies, innovations, programs, services that contribute to the strategic development of the university, indicating the necessary transformation paths. The study of the experience of TOP universities in digital transformation was based on the following indicators of efficiency: recognition in the educational market, scientific and innovative services, academic and reputation among employers.

As a result of the study, five stages of digital transformation of a modern university were identified:
1) the use of external digital technologies,
2) the introduction of separate elements of digital technologies into activities,
3) an unconnected digital infrastructure,
4) the integration of digital infrastructure elements,
5) complete open digital infrastructure.

The authors substantiated that there is a digital transformation of the target model of a particular university. For this, new digital products are constantly being launched for the development of the university. Integration into the global digital tracks of the university development leads to the formation of a new paradigm. The launch of new digital products into the educational, research and innovation processes leads to a positive partnership of all consortium members in the context of digital transformation and makes it possible to achieve the most effective results.
