Abstract:
This article follow our continuing work in utilizing Google apps for Course Management System [1], [2].
In the classrooms of today, there is a growing trend in: (1) the need to engage students and gain real-time feedback in an active-learning environment and (2) the number of students who bring their mobile devices (e.g. laptops, tablets, and smartphones) to the classrooms. This observation motivated us to develop a Classroom Response System (CRS) using Google Apps and Google Docs as a platform with students using their own mobile devices as ClickerTM. This system is free, convenient, and compatible across different operating systems, making it easy to be adopted in various courses and classroom settings.
During the talk, we will be demonstrating the use of this system as well as exploring the technical details behind it. We will also be sharing practical tips and tricks for those who wish to adopt this response system in their classrooms. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own mobile devices (with internet connection) to actively participate in the talk.
