Abstract:
Learning a foreign language is essential for all the people. It gives the learner a different perspective of the world. Communicating in a different language provides a variety of tools in a personal and professional aspects. Several scholars have been implementing different ways to support the foreign language teaching process. Most of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) are present in classrooms around the world. Several examples can be mentioned but the main aim of this paper is the use of social networks as an extension of the classroom. Facebook is focused as an instrument for helping teachers to foster students in the acquisition of English as a foreign language in universities. This article gives a wide perspective on how Facebook is used giving a theoretical framework and reflecting in some teacher’s experiences considering strengths and weaknesses. In our case Facebook gives a fast track to spread language and knowledge in students by giving them a natural-technological way to do it.
