Abstract:
The article discusses the basic forms, methods and principles of testing in a second language acquisition as one of the most effective and acceptable way to control the educational process. Testing is one of the components of the learning process and is considered one of the objective and effective means of controlling competence and skills. The authors considered various types of tests and on the basis of their own teaching experience propose the most helpful ones. Taking into account the experiment carried, it is possible to conclude that the benchmark test control is effective and should be implemented in teaching students majoring in Engineering.

It should be emphasized once again that the use of control as a means of developing motivation in teaching and pedagogical activity contributes to the active involvement of students in the educational process. In mass training in foreign languages, tests that meet all the necessary requirements and contain language difficulties can become the main means of training control of students' skills and competence.

The paper presents the conclusion about the expediency of using this method in a second language teaching.
