Abstract:
The importance and necessity of introducing ICT into education is indisputable in the 21st century. Today, it places high demands on a person's ability to know how to orientate in information, to acquire information and digital literacy, as well as to acquire the skills to correctly search for, select and use the necessary and verified sources and information.

The use of ICT in education is at different levels in different types of schools. Assessing the quality of schools is not only a reflection of the amount of computers and technology in the school, but especially a reflection of the ability of teachers and students to use technical means of education. The introduction of ICT into the educational process is an innovative trend that can streamline education and prepare young people for life in the digital age.

The paper deals with the application and use of ICT in the educational process. The aim is to incorporate the requirements of the European Union emphasizing the importance of ICT not only in education, but also addresses the implementation of modern computer and information technologies as a driving force of the economy. The paper reflects on the need to incorporate the 2010 Digital Agenda for Europe on the development of computer skills in synergy with digital and media literacy. Mastering digital literacy contributes to the better employment of school leavers and to a better orientation in the world of modern science and technology.
