Abstract:
The simulation allows to accelerate the learning process and improves its quality. With simulation clinics, Dental Schools have improved their preclinical laboratories to provide a more realistic clinical teaching environment. In dental education, it is highly desirable for students to develop some degree of automaticity with certain clinical skills (positioning the dental mirror, manipulating the dental handpiece and burs, and the use of indirect vision) prior to treating patients.
In Pediatric Dentistry matter (3rd and 4 th course of the Degree in Odontology, UCM) the student realizes a few preclinical practices in conditions of simulation. On having finished it, they must have demonstrated the necessary competencies before their incorporation to the dental treatment of infantile patients.
With the support of a Project of Educational Innovation of the UCM, we the teachers of the Matter have developed a few practical guides incorporated in digital videos with the preclinical restorative procedures. For the student, this didactic resource helps him to the autolearning of normal procedures and contributes to a more flexible formative action focused on the student. Instructional videos may aid in the teaching of steps in preparation and restoration of primary teeth.
