Abstract:
It is notorious that the violence in Brazil has been growing and assuming alarming proportions. Consequently, there are discussions regarding the need to address and perfect repression and crime fighting, increase in the penalties and the creation of maximum security presidiums aiming at a better safety overall feeling by the society, that is afflicted by fear, and has been protesting for removing violent perpetrators from the social life. Therefore, what happens is after going to jail and fulfilling the penalty, the convicted person will be returned to the society and the lack of approach in re-socializing of the convicts is perceptible, which is the reason why this research seeks to demonstrate the necessity of public policies creation, specifically in education so that the convict, when returning to society, could possibly be integrated to the work market, as a way to reduce the recidivism rate and therefore, the prevention of crimes in and out of the presidiums. It is important to discuss aspects regarding educational projects to the convict population, considering that it is the best way to minimize the violence growth. The Brazilian Law of Criminal Execution – LEP – is an advanced one, and could bring excellent results if it was observed in its entirety, regarding violence and crime fighting, whereas it is an instrument for preparation of the convict´s return to the social life, thus, it´s important that the society participates aiming at the observance of the objectives of the law. The prison education needs more governmental attention. Initiatives from justice and education organisms have been stressing the strategic importance of the creative and quality pedagogical work, adequate to the prison universe. Work and education are categories that should be present in every project of convict´s re-insertion or re-socialization.

Objectives:
To study aspects regarding educational projects towards the convict population. To identify the main instruments so that the convict population has a better access to education; and analyze what Law Science can do to help with the social education of the convicts aiming at avoiding the re-occurrence of the criminality.

Methodology:
Deductive and bibliographic with retrospective, descriptive and documental research. We will also use empirical and qualitative research, observing the data of the Education Department to identify the number of inmates currently studying in the prisons of the City of Manaus, State of Amazonas, Brazil.

Conclusion:
The increase in violence is a social phenomenon that has been worsening. LEP provides that the convicts should live in decent conditions and the prison environment should be of harmonious conviviality and provide inclusion and re-socialization of the convict. Without the offering of a quality education, prison won´t recuperate the convict, only producing and reproducing more violence. Education and work are essential elements to dignity access. Both contribute to the inclusion of the convict in the social medium through its productivity and professional formation. This way, it is important to identify the main problems that prevent inmates to have access to the job market, after their life sentence.
