Abstract:
Within the preparation of future physics teachers, we work, for quite some time now, with the idea that we know, that physics education in Slovakia is not ideal. We hope we know how to improve it, and we are searching for ways to implement the vision of the researchers on physics education and pre-service teacher education. On the one hand, science education in Slovakia proves bad results in international comparisons, on the other hand, some of us reach inspiring results in daily physics education at some inspiring schools and also in some international educational systems. We try to build on the principles of The Learning Science, to develop the whole personality of the students, to use a holistic view and to teach students how to scaffold the work of their future secondary school students effectively. We put special attention on the development of the ability of our students to build a proper educational environment, where digital technologies, as well as proper forms of discussion (exploratory talk), has a firm place. This paper focuses on presenting some of the research results on the application of our theoretical background in the theory of physics education, educational psychology, cognitive and social psychology, towards to boosting of learning of the university students – future physics teachers. We present the ways and some results of searching for the transformation of the content, methods, and parameters of the learning environment. Some of the outputs we compare with the preparation of teachers in some other educational systems.
