Abstract:
This paper describes the SELP platform. SELP (Senology e-Learning Platform) is an elearning platform in senology (breast cancer domain). This platform is dedicated to expert radiologists in senology. It allows them improving patient follow-up and making knowledge available and accessible to both junior and expert senologists by providing them a pedagogical tool for rationalizing, improving and automating screening knowledge access and capitalizing experts’ experience. SELP is accessible via the web any time anywhere. The platform will be implemented in the department of radiology of Gustave Roussy Institute (Paris) and will be generated to other departments of radiology of France.

The SELP platform is based on a ‘knowledge base system’ previously developed by our research team. This ‘knowledge base system’ is based on information and knowledge derived from the patient record and imaging modalities such as mammography, echography, MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) and ultrasound. The ‘knowledge base system’ is organised according to the Case-Based Reasoning Approach.

SELP is simple, interactive, pedagogical and easily implemented. It will promote the evolution of teaching in senology by offering senologists ‘juniors and experts’ an advanced pedagogical product.
Via the platform, the experts allow the trainees to explore, learn, share and express themselves. On the other hand, it allows experts to import resources and put them available to trainees. It allows them:
1. create, assign and deliver training content in multiple formats,
2. assign and deliver courses from experience of expert senologists,
3. create, assign and track tests and,
4. classroom management.

We present in details the components of the platform and illustrate them by some tests according to the senology domain.
