Abstract:

The right wing populism is a political phenomenon that have become increasingly stronger in the last period of time, at least in some European countries. One of the reasons for this success is off course the political marketing. To prevent the pupils and students from the strategic manipulation and brainwashing is to teach them to understand the specific ways and methods of the political communication and marketing. The focus is on the posters and Facebook posts which uses the power of pictures to impact our consciousness and subconsciousness as well. From this material we’ve chosen especially those pictures and posts that let us smile and that uses the strategy of humor. The aim of the paper is to show some examples how the political posters can be analyzed and discussed in class. This didactic approach demonstrates also the possibility to develop critical thinking and to teach the terminology used to describe humor – such as satire, irony, parody, persiflage etc. – at the same time.
