Abstract:

The use of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in university education is transforming teaching-learning processes, especially in degrees such as Computer Engineering. Tools such as ChatGPT or GitHub Copilot allow automating complex tasks such as code generation or technical writing, which poses new ethical and pedagogical challenges. This paper proposes a guide to make an ethical statement for the use of generative Artificial Intelligence in undergraduate Computer Engineering subjects. The proposal is based on a review of the literature on AI ethics and education, as well as on the analysis of real cases in universities that have implemented similar ethical frameworks. From this, practical recommendations for teachers and students are formulated, including guidelines on how to declare the use of generative AI, how to integrate it into training activities and how to encourage critical thinking about its results. The objective of the ethical statement is not intended as a sanctioning code, but as a pedagogical tool that promotes self-regulation and commitment to professional engineering values. The use of an ethical statement seeks to accompany the transition towards a university education adapted to the context of generative AI, ensuring the development of technical, ethical and critical competencies in the student body.
