Abstract:
This communication is part of the implementation of the FPN1501, Performance Agreement, whose main objective is "To enhance the professional technical training offered at Naval Polytechnic Academy by improving teaching, accessing information and developing quality assurance mechanisms aimed at Innovate in the curriculum. " This Institutional Improvement Plan (Spanish: Plan de Mejoramiento Institucional; PMI) represents an innovative milestone for training in the Chilean Navy. Following the methodology of action research, based on the results of a diagnostic study on digital teacher competences, a b-learning training course was designed and implemented for 550 teachers of "seafarers" throughout the Academic year 2016/2017. Among the most outstanding results obtained from the teacher improvement course, together with basic digital competences, there has been a lack of autonomous learning competence on the part of the teachers, throughout the training process and a resistance to change, either with respect to the introduction of Participatory active methodology, or regarding the incorporation of ICT in the teaching-learning process. This is why, in order to obtain the change towards competency learning, we consider that modifying and innovating the curricular mesh of the subjects taught is not enough, it is fundamental to review and influence the teaching style and the abilities of the teachers in excercise.
