Abstract:
The present investigation emerges from the project Creation of Virtual Learning Objects (CVLO) that is being worked on at the Technical University of Machala (UTMACH), where the subject of open educational resources (OER) is simultaneously addressed. These resources currently offer the possibility of helping students in higher education to build their knowledge, because through the use or creation of these resources they can strengthen their learning and enhance the digital skills that they acquire throughout their university education. However, it has been determined that in the university community, specifically in teacher training courses, there is little use of OER to help massing the construction of knowledge in the process of teaching and learning at the higher level. This is why we propose the design and development of an OER that will enable the digital skills of future teachers to be enhanced. It should be mentioned that this research was developed from a mixed approach, where direct observation and interviews were applied to 20 teachers in the area of education at UTMACH, in addition to a survey of 87 students in the Experimental Sciences Pedagogy career. Then, it is necessary to indicate that after the elaboration of the OERs, teachers and students were able to strengthen by 87% the level of knowledge creation as established by UNESCO in the framework of teachers' competencies in ICTs, in addition to massing digital competencies in the educational field. In this way, it was possible to demonstrate the development of 25 digital resources during the construction of the OERs. In conclusion, it was determined that this type of resources have a fundamental role to play in strengthening the digital competencies of future teachers, since it became evident that work is being done to strengthen teachers' digital competencies, which are necessary for the construction of new knowledge.
