Abstract:
In 2015, the UN approved the 2030 Agenda with 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to improve global society, with the ambition of leaving no one behind. Universities are searching for strategies so that the student body can learn about them and participate in their development. In this context, ODS EN CORTO was born, an educational innovation project whose objective is for university students, aged between 17 and 22, to learn and disseminate about the SDGs through audiovisual production.

The project consists of 3 key phases:
1) production of audiovisual products with SDG themes in the classroom;
2) creation and promotion of university short films on this subject in the ODS en Corto contest;
3) development of a web repository with the participants of the contest.

In the first stage, the project was integrated into the audiovisual subjects of different degrees of the Universitat Politècnica de València. The students were instructed on the SDGs and were motivated to develop audiovisual pieces that had any of the 17 objectives to transform our world promoted by the UN as a thematic axis.
In the second stage, the students of these subjects were invited to participate with their projects in the ODS en Corto contest. This seeks the visibility of their work beyond the classroom and that they can serve as an inspiration to other students. At the same time, the call was opened through the Filmfreeway platform in order to attract students who worked on the SDGs in other national and international universities. The requirements were:
a) a duration of between 5 and 20 minutes;
b) to have been carried out by a higher education student;
c) that the main theme of the short film was related to the SDGs.

The call was open for two months and obtained a total of 770 entries from 76 countries. A selection was made of 12 short films from 10 countries chosen by a professional jury for their high narrative value, their assertiveness in dealing with the Sustainable Development Goals and their production quality. The projection was made at the Polytechnic School of Gandía and more than a hundred students attended. Two economic prizes were awarded, one by the jury and the other by the public. This initiative not only sought to promote the narratives that deal with SDGs, but also to motivate attendees to create their own audiovisuals and participate in the next edition.

In the third stage, a website with the same name was developed and where users can find learning tools on SDGs. This space has been created to function as a repository for short films, but also to store information related to educational innovation conferences, SDG training and a directory of works and creators working on issues related to the SDGs. This way, students can seek inspiration to produce their own projects while learning about the SDGs. We also intend it to be an open tool for universities around the world with which we can collaborate and disseminate information about the SDGs through the audiovisual creation of the student body.
