Abstract:
This documental, non-experimental and descriptive research has been developed for academic purposes to identify some of the best practices to foster energy transition.
This document highlights the relevance of promoting energy transition. The energy transition is the abandonment of oil, coal, gas and atomic energy as a source of energy and its replacement by renewable energies. For examples, in countries like Germany, by 2050 at least 80 percent of electricity and 60 percent of all energy supply must come from renewable sources.
The energy transition is the answer for two challenges: on one hand fossil resources, such as coal, oil and gas, are increasingly scarce; on the other, climate change threatens our societies. Renewable energies are the technological solution to both problems, as well as being generated locally and economically. The change towards a low carbon economy approved in recent years in many countries, necessarily involves an increase in renewable energies because they are cheaper than new atomic or coal-fired power plants.
The objective of this research is to analyze some of the most important energy transition strategies and according to the theoretical framework analyzed identify the main characteristics, considering aspects related to the generation of clean, renewable and sustainable energy, reduction of carbon emissions, and the change in the behavior of consumers and companies to manage environmental impact, that have the potential to promote the welfare and quality of life for people, concluding with a proposal of strategy to take advantages of fostering energy transition. Keywords:
