ANALYSIS OF THE PERFORMANCE IN MASTERS DEGREES

A Master’s program requires the student completes a final thesis to obtain the Master’s title. The Master thesis is an insight application of the knowledge the student receives along the Master’s duration applied into a practical or theoretical case supervised by a Master’s professor.
During the sharp economic expansion occurred in Spain during the period 2001-2006, it was common that post-graduate students were enrolled in Master’s programs at the same time that they were working, but also students dropped out the Masters degrees due to an excess of work and responsibilities. However, as consequence of the economic crisis started during the late 2007 post graduate education demand is changing its trends. For the particular case of two Masters: Master in Real Estate Sciences and Master in Valuation, both taught in the Universitat Politècnica de València, we develop a dynamic study to analyze the differences between the rate of Master’s students finish their Master’s thesis on time, the average duration of a Masters’ students program, also the rate of students enrolled in a Master’s program just pending on their Master’s thesis during the period of time 2001 until 2013. Then, results of the analysis are shown, and finally conclusions are commented.
